AS THE BETTER HALF OF THE COMMUNITY
As a mother of four, Rocha knows too well of a mother’s unconditional love – which often puts the needs of her children above herself. However, she debunks one of the biggest misconceptions about being a good mom which is self-love.
“Between your family and your work life, it’s very important not to lose and forsake yourself.”
In one of her workshops, she shares that one of the participants expressed that she didn’t believe in self-love because of all her responsibilities, from her husband to her children, siblings, and parents.
“Self-love is not in any way similar to being selfish. It’s like a well, ‘selfish’ just keeps all the water in until you become full of yourself. What happens then? You implode, you drown your surroundings. Self-love is allowing the people around you to draw from your well, you nourish your surroundings, you allow everyone around you to thrive, at peace with the knowledge that since the water comes from inside you, you will never run dry.”
“We have to keep in mind that this world we live in is no longer for us, it’s for our children, our grandchildren it’s for the future generations. Everything we do, from parenting to how we treat people and conduct our businesses will impact our descendants. So ask yourself, what kind of world do you want your future generations to live in?”
For her, the answer is simple.
“Don’t be afraid of your light, embrace it and use it to light up the way for future generations.”

Here’s what some members say about SeaFam:
“A family”
SeaFam helps me release stress, especially since I am mostly alone as a parent and all the responsibilities fall on my shoulders. I make the effort to attend activities because I get to meet my circle of friends who treat each other like family. – Marife
“Exciting & refreshing”
SeaFam organizes many activities. The last event we had was an exciting wine pairing. It is very refreshing that we get to socialize with our co-members.
There is so much to experience in SeaFam, not just in terms of enjoyment, but also in activities like family bonding, saving money, and financial literacy. – Daisy
“A strong support system”
In SeaFam, I met new friends who have been helping me whenever I have problems, especially when my husband faces challenges onboard, like when I was preparing for my wedding. Thanks to them, our plans pushed through, and they even became our ninangs (godmothers). – Jennelyn
“Open & Inclusive”
I’ve invited many wives, seafarers, and even their children to join SeaFam.
What’s great about it is that it’s open to all members of the maritime industry. The group is not limited to just wives but also includes office workers. As long as you are you are welcome to join SeaFam! – Sarah
“Eye-opening”
Before, I had no idea about my spouse’s job on the ship. Now I understand what he does and how the company takes care of seafarers. It has helped me understand my spouse better. – Evelyn
