European Commission’s Assessment of Maritime Education, Training, and Certification System of the Republic of the Philippines

The latest EMSA audit report on the Philippines Maritime Education, Training, and Certification System has come out and identified several ranges of areas pertaining to the implementation of the STCW requirements ” that need attention or further improvement”.

This was contained in a press statement released by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) recently. As we all know, EMSA has been conducting a series of evaluations and assessments of the country’s maritime training, education and certification since 2006. The earlier reports have noticed some deficiencies in several areas.

The latest inspection was done March of last year by EMSA and the findings sent to the European Commission for Assessment (EC) who in turn submitted its findings to MARINA in January this year.

Please read the attached photo for the findings and pertinent  points raised by the commission.
